Scott Schmidt, M.Ed.
I am a Business Education teacher at St. Francis High School in St. Francis, MN. I teach Web Design, Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Keyboarding, and a Computer Basics course that focuses mostly on word processing, spreadsheets, and using the various google apps for education. I am also the Head Boys Tennis coach and was a trainer for our staff as we transitioned to the Infinite Campus SMS.
My wife, Megan, (mathybeagle.com, @veganmathbeagle) is a math teacher at St. Francis as well. She was my inspiration for starting this blog when I saw the powerful connections and feedback she received after starting her own blog. I hope to receive the same great feedback she has.
We have a 4 year-old daughter named Maria who is enrolled in a Montessori preschool. Our family is rounded out by 2 great beagles, Herbie and Stella.
Over the years, I have shifted my passion from teaching students to helping students learn. I have been researching Standards-Based Learning and Standards-Based Grading and am excited to start implementing these principles and strategies in my classes in the fall.
I am always looking to connect with other teachers passionate about student learning and achievement, so please do not hesitate to leave comments on these blog posts, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or connect with me on Twitter (@bizedteach). I would love to continue to grow my PLN.
